We saw first hand that educators, many of them our friends, needed a way to expand support for students with special learning needs. The systems they were given buried them in admin work instead.

The process

Making an individual education plan (IEP)

Andrew is a fictional student on an Individual Education Plan (IEP), let's follow the process of creating his IEP to understand the problem.

School Admission

Andrew is new at school. Learning Support sits down with his parents to understand his support needs.

The classroom

His homeroom teacher observes him in class struggling with reading aloud and with attention drifting during lessons

The Process Begins

Learning Support are aware of Andrew's needs upon admission. They begin gathering documentation from his parents, including psych evaluations and previous academic history.

The picture forms

The documents share Andrew's ADHD diagnosis. Teacher observations are included in forming the picture too.

The document

The support teacher uses all this information to write Andrew's IEP. A single Google or Word document which outlines how to support Andrew's ADHD and develop his reading fluency.

Changes to the IEP Pal software and experience.

Website redesign & funding

Our website now reflects how our software looks today with the same color palette; moreover, we did our best to create small working pieces of the software to interact with on the homepage.

Beyond the website, IEP Pal is looking for funding to scale as we continue to seek out and partner with pilot schools to strengthen our traction. If you are interested to learn more about investing in IEP Pal, please see our Investors Page.

Moving into the new school year, we're in the process of earning our data security and compliance certifications here in Singapore, with a clear plan to obtain certification overseas (e.g. GDPR and APP).

Software Changes

Since April we've been using conversations with schools to drive changes in how we approach security and AI use. Here are a few highlights from our work over the school holidays.

Administrators now get a macro data overview of every teacher, student, IEP, and goals across the school in a filterable table. Admins also have the ability to export to Excel if required.

The AI Settings panel: per-feature toggles for IEP creation, goal creation, surveys, strategy recommendations, chart suggestions, and the student assistant Lexi

We've made it a priority to give schools the power to decide when AI is used and when it is not. We recognize that AI is still in its early innings, so providing flexibility is important. Schools can still use Lexi to draft IEPs and goals, but when Lexi is switched off it's clear to users.

The Roles & Permissions screen: per-role access levels for administrators, teachers, learning support, and parents

Finally, Roles & Permissions allow admins to manage user access to features. This was a high priority to ensure that the correct people have access to appropriate information, ensuring that privacy is maintained where it needs to be.

Software & customer updates

We updated several core features of the IEP Pal software including the onboarding of our AI tool "Lexi" through Claude. This is not yet in full rollout, but we are testing use cases and gathering feedback with educators.

Chugging Along

Despite being full-time servicemen, the team is still shipping and working hard on nights and weekends. Progress has been consistent, regardless of the obstacles in our way.

We are planning to run a pilot with a school in India within the next few months. The goal is to validate our workflows end-to-end with real students and teachers, and iterate quickly based on what actually helps.

Getting started

To get started with IEP Pal, click "Book a demo" on our homepage. After your demo session, our team will set up your admin account and walk you through the onboarding process. Your school's educators can then be invited to join through the admin dashboard.
We offer three tiers. Basic for individual educators who need IEP creation and goal tracking, Schools (recommended) which adds data visualizations, the strategy library, and data collection activities, and Custom for organizations needing tailored features. Visit our Pricing page for full details.
We don't have a self-serve free trial, but we'd love to show you what IEP Pal can do. Reach out to book a demo and our team will walk you through the platform and set up a trial tailored to your school's needs. Just head to our contact page or click "Book a demo" to get started.

Features & usage

First, begin by creating a class. Click "+ New Classroom" in the top right. Fill in your class details. Once inside, click "+ Add Student," which is the middle button on the top right. Once your student is added, click on their profile and fill in the IEP template present. If your IEP Template is not viewing, contact your administrator.
The Strategy Library gives you access to over 150+ proven strategies curated by experts. You can browse the library, add strategies directly to student profiles, and even create and add your own custom strategies. It's available on the Schools and Custom plans.
You gain the ability to create bar charts, stacked bar charts, and boxplots. These visualizations can be manually created and we are expanding capability so it becomes as easy as dragging in a spreadsheet. If you're curious about what that unlocks, book a demo.

Privacy & security

Student privacy is our top priority. IEP Pal is built with security-first principles including encrypted data storage, role-based access controls, and compliance with relevant education data privacy standards. See our Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement for full details.
Only authorized users within your school or organization can access your data. Admin accounts control who is invited and what permissions each educator has. IEP Pal staff do not access student data unless required for technical support with your explicit permission.
Yes. Staff can add a second factor with any authenticator app. Enrolment happens in Settings, takes about a minute, and comes with backup codes in case a phone is lost. Administrators can see which staff accounts have it switched on.
Yes. The parent portal shows guardians their linked children, and the student portal gives learners a simple view of their own goals. Both are read only views, and what they can see is controlled by the school's permission settings.
